For this project, I wanted to create an animation that looked smooth and was interesting. To do that, I decided to use my iPad to draw characters for my animation.Starting my animation, the only thing I knew I wanted to do was to have my main character get punched and then transported into the dream world. because I knew I wanted to do this, I decided to create my animation first. I didn't know who my main character was going to be so I decided to come up with a cute bunny character. I thought this would also give me a lot more freedom if I wanted to draw the character doing other things. for all of my animations I used Adobe After Effects. I've never used a tool like this and I've only done frame by frame animation once. I think that using Adobe After Effects really helps me produce a higher quality animation than I would have if I had just done frame by frame. is really fun to work with and it was still really hard to turn my vision into reality.
However, because I watch a lot of animations (Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite), and I used to watch a lot of “how to animate” YouTube videos, I think I understand the principles of animation well. I'm really proud of what I was able to create and I think that even though my animation is quite literally just someone getting punched, flying and landing on the ground, walking, and then getting punched again, I think it looks really good and I'm very proud of what I had created.
